Happy Friday, everyone! Here are some of my recent favorites, from unusual vending machines to fictional hot chocolate recipes to the funniest things I’ve seen this week.
For anyone who has found themselves with time to kill in an airport . . .
Believe it or not, there are vending machines that spit out short stories for those times when you’re waiting around and in need of some mental stimulation. They originated in France, but apparently there are now some in the US too. I want to find one! Vending Machines Dispense Short Stories Instead of Snacks
For anyone who needs cheering up in this winter weather . . .
These book character inspired hot chocolate recipes will warm you up inside and out. I especially enjoyed the Mr. Darcy recipe and the one about Katniss Everdeen. Hot Chocolate Recipes Based on Fictional Characters
For anyone who wonders if they’re doing this parenting thing right . . .
I’m only a few months into this mommy gig, but that’s long enough for me to second-guess myself approximately eleven times within the hour. These tongue-in-cheek charts cracked me up and reminded me that I’m not alone. Parenting Explained in 5 Simple Graphs
For anyone who needs a laugh . . .
My goal for this year is to laugh more (and to give the people in my life more opportunities to laugh), so I was delighted to find this satirical post: The Proverbs 32 Man.

I read the Proverbs 32 man to my husband! We especially liked the line about him being spunky but calming down appropriately when indoors. It makes me think about last night as Hubby was sitting on your youngest and our oldest was bouncing on top of both of them (he is 14) and the baby (age 10) is shouting out “My neck, my neck, I’m dying!” and I’m rushing in “Don’t smash his neck, necks are never to be smashed!” And they all look at me like I’m crazy. Yep, that would be what they consider “calm.” Anyway, we thought proverbs 32 guy was great.

That would my “My” youngest, not your youngest. I’m sure you feel safer now!

Hee hee! So glad you enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure I’m going to be asking you all the questions about being a boy mom!
Kristen Joy Wilks says
Wrestling! Most of the time, as a boy Mom, the answer to your question involves wrestling. “What can I do to get my son to settle down for bed?”–after dinner wrestling and wild dancing to loud music, then read, then bed! “How can we get focused on homework/chores/coloring/calling Grandma?”–wrestling! “How do I get him to wear that adorable little tie?” –Wrestling! Of course, sometimes the answer is to snuggle a pet chicken … usually after wrestling. So there is the total of my wisdom. Wrestle them, often, then do calm things afterwards. Or pet a chicken!
